Above is a photo on some cookie logic which shows you how small variations in your recipe can affect your cookie. The first cookie is an example what a cookie will look like if you bake it for too long. The second cookie is an example of a cookie that didn't have enough flour. Next is a cookie that used only white sugar and no brown sugar. Then a cookie that was cooked in an oven that was too hot. The second to last cookie had too much flour in it. Finally, the last cookie is what the perfect chocolate chip cookie should look like!
Here are some more tips and tricks to help perfect your chocolate chip cookie. The first tip is make sure you use cold butter. This will help your cookie cook through evenly. The second tip is if you want your cookie to be firmer you should let your dough chill for 24 hours. This allows the dry ingredients to soak up the wet ingredients helping the cookie be firmer. The final tip is if you are making multiple batches make sure to always put your dough on a cold pan. If you put your cold dough on a warm or hot pan it will make your cookies spread out way too much making them burn.
